This historical Batticaloa fort was built in 1628 by the Portuguese. This is also known as Dutch as this was occupied by the Dutch after ten years of its construction. The District Secretariat is at present occupying the building. The fort is located in Puliyanthivu island and can be visited all year around.
Batticaloa light house is situated in Palameenmadu, It was built in 1913. The height of the tower is 28 meters.
